2-wire current sensor - Weikewei - response fast up to 1us

2-wire DC - In a 2-wire configuration, the output and load are connected in series with the sensor's power supply, resulting in higher leakage current. Even if the switching element is in the off state, the sensor can still operate. The connection to the load can be through a DC positive or negative pole, making the 2-wire output more versatile. The current source configuration is shown below.

2线制电流传感器

Advantages of 2-wire DC output

Simple 2-wire connection

Usually equipped with short-circuit protection

Absorb current or absorb current according to the load position

Disadvantages of 2-wire DC output

Higher voltage drop and leakage current

There must be a load to operate or test normally

Compared to 3-wire DC devices, there are fewer available model choices

2-wire AC - This type of connection is very similar to 2-wire DC, and voltage drop and leakage current should be considered when determining the compatibility between sensor output and load characteristics. It should be noted that most 2-wire AC sensors do not include short-circuit protection and should always operate with the load connected. Supplying power to the sensor without load may damage the sensor. Another point to note is that 2-wire AC sensors with metal casings typically only have 3 wires, but this should not be confused with 3-wire operation - only two wires are used to connect the load, and the third wire can be used to connect the load. If necessary, ground the casing (see the example connection diagram below).

2-wire AC/DC - Specialized circuit design allows 2-wire AC/DC sensors to operate with AC or DC power and loads, and typically includes short-circuit protection. Their voltage drop and leakage current specifications are usually higher, but beyond that, their connection and operation are very similar to 2-wire AC or 2-wire DC devices.

Advantages of 2-wire AC/DC output

  • Simple 2-wire connection

  • Universal wide range operating voltage

  • Usually equipped with short-circuit protection

  • The load placement can usually be on both sides of the sensor power connection

Disadvantages of 2-wire AC/DC output

  • Higher voltage drop and leakage current

  • There must be a load to operate or test normally

  • Compared to 3-wire DC devices, there are fewer available model choices
